Real-time video used in therapy sessions could help stroke survivors rehabilitate more quickly, according to researchers.
Patients who viewed videos of themselves to better understand their movements during sessions recovered “significantly” faster, said study co-author Byoung-Hee Lee, Ph.D., PT, of Sahmyook University in South Korea.
Two groups of people who had a stroke performed three 30-minute sessions per week for six weeks; the group that improved the most also had a video component. Gait velocity, stride length and “timed up and go” tests improved.
