Joerns Healthcare has created the Chauffeur™ Universal Transport System with a side-to-side drive. The Chauffeur is a four-way directional transport system designed to improve bed maneuverability, improve staff efficiency and prevent injury during patient transport, the company said.
Ergonomic handles help staff, and reduce strain on uneven flooring. Joerns’ exclusive SideShift feature also moves the bedside to side, allowing less effort in repositioning beds, said Jim Mulligan, Healthcare Beds Product Manager at Joerns.
“The Chauffeur is one of a kind,” he said. “There is no need to strain to reposition the bed. Caregivers can now navigate with ease between bedside tables and along walls; they can sidestep exam carts, negotiate corners and glide into elevators.”
Transporting patients in bed can help reduce patient anxiety, injury and lessen back pain for staff, Mulligan said.
The Chauffeur Universal Transport System is available for Joerns Healthcare’s Bari 10A bariatric bed and as a retrofit to the Bari10A and RC1000UB beds.
