A sizeable staffing agency and provider of skilled nursing care is teaming with a Fortune 500 company, aiming to better arm nurses with crucial information.
Maxim Healthcare Services — based in Columbia, MD, with some 350 branch offices, deploying 65,000 caregivers — announced the partnership last week. It plans to work closely with technology company Leidos to develop a suite of products, which it says will equip providers with more information, before they enter patients’ homes.
Those will include data from a variety of sources so that caregivers can target any potential gaps in care, and also ensure that patients are served in the lowest cost setting, the company said. Those tools will be deployed on the platform provided by Leidos, which is based in Reston, VA. It also serves customers in defense, intelligence and homeland security.
“We believe this will be a game changer for our patients and customers, as well as healthcare providers and payers seeking ways to better manage populations at home,” Maxim CEO Bill Butz said in a statement. “From a recently discharged patient navigating social barriers to a ventilator-dependent child receiving care in the home or an employer looking for ways to keep their workforce healthy, this technology will provide the depth of information needed to improve quality and value for each of the populations we serve.”
The new tools will be built on an interoperability platform that’s called “CareC2,” utilizing tech that is that is also deployed by the U.S. Air Force to run flight missions. Data will come from sources such as insurance claims, scheduling and wearable devices, to name a few. Maxim and Leidos said they plan to lend the tech offering to health plans, large hospital systems, employers and government payers, according to the press release.
