PointClickCare on Tuesday announced a new infection prevention and control solution designed to provide ongoing, centralized resident surveillance at the facility and enterprise level.

Clinical teams, particularly those on the front lines combating the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, will have access to actionable insights, enabling them to better monitor for outbreaks and analyze infection data.

“COVID-19 has placed a heavy burden on our customers’ shoulders,” said Bill McQuaide, chief product officer for PointClickCare, the leading cloud-based software for the senior care market. “This release of Infection Prevention and Control reinforces our philosophy that we are not just a vendor to our customers, but a trusted partner who is joining them in the fight against this pandemic.”

The new solution offers the following:

• Access to a repository of infection cases in a central location to ensure that care staff and administration can effectively manage infection cases

• Replace the manual efforts required to compile infection case information, including COVID-19, by attaching information already documented in PointClickCare

• Capture resident condition using industry accepted standards to correlate the symptoms of infections to ensure a consistent approach in all residents showing signs of infection

• View infection case information through real-time, interactive dashboards

• Allow infection preventionists to develop evidence-based recommendations based on infection analysis for clinical and non-clinical team members

“The IPC solution has helped to increase efficiency and transparency for our team — critical elements of dealing with an evolving pandemic like COVID-19,” said Vicki Nordby, nurse consultant for Marquis Companies. “Prior to implementing this solution, our teams at the facility level were tracking infections in multiple formats, all of which needed to be manually pulled together into one report. Today, all tracking and reporting is done right within the PointClickCare EHR, allowing our teams to quickly and effectively communicate information as we need it, which has proven to be invaluable during this difficult time.”

PointClickCare is making the infection protection and control solution available on a no-cost, no-obligation basis to all customers through Oct. 31.
