One presidential candidate did morning nursing-home rounds this week.
That’s right. John Edwards, a Democrat who ran for vice president in 2004 and is running for the top spot in 2008, helped deliver breakfast and perform personal care duties this week for residents at the Sarah Neuman Nursing Home outside New York City.
Edwards was participating in “Work a Day in My Shoes,” a program sponsored by the Service Employees International Union. The program introduces presidential candidates to the daily life of frontline workers to understand the challenges of the jobs.
”I think all politicians should take a page from his book,” said Elaine Ellis, a certified nursing assistant who escorted Edwards on her early morning rounds.
