The National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing and Care Industry is returning its spring conference to the West Coast. Registration is ongoing for the March 31-April 2 event, which will take place in San Diego and feature Dr. Bruce Chernof and Kathleen Sebelius as keynote speakers.

The event is aimed at small- to mid-sized operators in seniors housing and post-acute care. Chernof, CEO of the SCAN Foundation, and Sebelius, former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, lead the speaker line-up, which also includes a handful of key American Health Care Association state executives.

Some of the major issues addressed in session will be:

o   Reimbursement model shifts due to an increasing emphasis on fee-for-value

o   Coordinated care initiatives involving seniors housing and post-acute providers

o   Financing for private pay seniors housing and skilled nursing and post-acute care operators (how to identify the right lender, how best to prepare to meet with lenders)

o   Finding the right seniors housing acquisition opportunity and integrating the acquisition into existing portfolio

o  Growth and exit strategies for the smaller skilled nursing operator

o  SNF payment models (what to look for when reviewing a managed care contract, best practices to streamline billing and cash flow with managed care payers)

o  Developing new product types for middle-income private pay seniors housing

Obtaining equity for new seniors housing property development

In addition, 37 Capital Providers vetted to ensure their financial services are geared towards small/mid-size operators, will be on hand to make pitches to capital seekers.
