Lee Health has opened a freestanding skilled nursing unit at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL, earlier this month.

Lee Health now operates 205 skilled nursing beds. The Gulf Coast Skilled Nursing Unit is the third in the health system, along with units at Lee Memorial Hospital and the HealthPark Care & Rehabilitation Center.

In 2017, Lee Health’s board voted to spend $306 million to expand the medical center, according to local reports. By 2021, the hospital will have three additional stories. It also recently added a 1,300-space parking garage.
