Another senior care provider is adding telemedicine to its repertoire, as it looks to strengthen ties with local hospitals.
Asbury Communities, based in Frederick, MD, recently announced that it is introducing video-based provider services from TripleCare. The senior care provider includes eight communities in four states, offering a gamut of services that include memory support, assisted living and skilled nursing.
With the technology, Asburby will be able to utilize physicians’ expertise via video during off hours, such as at night or over the weekend. The hope is that, by doing so, the long-term care provider will be able to avoid unnecessary and costly transfers to the hospital.
“In the short time since implementing TripleCare, we have already seen improvement in resident care and comfort, as well as cost controls. We are excited to be an early adopter of telemedicine in retirement communities, and among the first continuing care communities to bring these benefits directly to community residents and their families,” Sue DaCamara, chief operating officer for Asbury Communities, said in a press release.
