Eighteen states have now filed separate or joint lawsuits against the new healthcare reform law.

Indiana, North Dakota, Mississippi, Nevada and Arizona are signing onto the suit filed last month by Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum. Virginia sued separately.

The states contend the legislation places an unconstitutional burden on their budgets with the expansion of state-run Medicaid. Virginia argues the “individual mandate” requiring people to buy health insurance exceeds Congress’s powers.
