A natural leader and forward-thinker, Miriam Levi has transformed the community at her New York nursing home.
She first joined The New Jewish Home in New York City as a college intern and soon became the facility’s associate director of therapeutic recreation. After approximately nine years in this role, Levi was promoted to director of community life activities, where she created popular initiatives such as pet therapy, a writers’ workshop and music and technology programs.
At the same time, Levi honed her leadership skills by overseeing The New Jewish Home’s community outreach and volunteer departments. She has trained thousands of staff members and volunteers, chaired committees and spearheaded culture change efforts for the nursing home. Countless colleagues have noted their love and admiration for the work she has done.
“Each and every day, we witness Miriam’s lifelong passion to improve the lives of older adults and the staff who care for them, and it uplifts us all,” said Jeffrey Farber, MD, president and CEO of The New Jewish Home. “The positive impact Miriam makes is felt throughout The New Jewish Home system, and we continue to be inspired by the example she sets and learn from the unique perspective she brings.”
Levi has been an assistant administrator for The New Jewish Home since 2019, where she manages 300 beds and more than 400 staff members at the Westchester, NY, campus.

- Levi has developed more than 40 wellness activities for the residents of The New Jewish Home.
- She established a resident-led volunteer committee called Hand-in-Hand, which develops fundraising events for the nursing home.
