Jane Mack has been “working” in elder care since she was just a child, when she volunteered at a local senior living organization at the encouragement of her parents. Little did she know at the time that she would become a leading consultant, executive, expert and speaker in the field. The path there wasn’t always easy — Mack grew in organizational leadership and development while working full-time, for example — but her dedication to excellence in care has been consistent.

Shortly after attaining her degree, Mack took on a role at Friends Services Alliance, a company providing training, education, organization development and other services to eldercare providers. Under her leadership as president and CEO of the company since 2008, FSA has grown to provide services to more than 100 nonprofit providers each year, with revenues increasing almost 200%.

Mack’s expertise in risk management, and her willingness to adapt to new challenges, proved invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she helped provide accurate and convenient consulting services in new online settings.

“She has transformed FSA from a small East Coast Quaker organization into a nationally known and sought-after organization that is well respected in the field of aging services,” her nominator said. “Jane has consistently and methodically led FSA as it transformed, and she built its skills and services. It is hard to imagine FSA making the strides it has over the years without her involvement.”

More about Mack:

  • Mack continued to serve as a volunteer, including on the board of directors at FSA, before becoming president and CEO.
  • At FSA, Mack has spearheaded several initiatives, including the organization’s internship program, its Leadership Institute retreat for emerging leaders, its Values Summit and its diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives. Beyond FSA, she also was instrumental in the administrator-in-training program at Barclay Friends in West Chester, PA.
  • She teaches at the graduate level at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
