It’s uncommon to find someone in long-term care quite like Angel Loyd.

She has spent the past 22 years of her career working at Bridges Health, a nursing home in Oklahoma City where she currently oversees company operations in eastern Oklahoma as a regional manager. In that role, she is in charge of nine skilled nursing facilities and two assisted living communities.

Loyd has created a multitude of programs for employee recognition, development and mentoring, and she led Bridges Health during the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing new policies and procedures to keep staff members and residents safe.

Prior to her start at Bridges, she was a very busy nursing home administrator, working in 16 different administration assignments since 2002, which took her all across Oklahoma. At times in her career, she has had to make long drives to facilities under her watch to provide support with surveys, consult on business decisions, provide on-the-job training and assist with leadership transitions.

Colleagues have remarked on her business savvy, people skills, determination and integrity. “Angel is a self-assured leader who selflessly champions the recognition of others,” one of them said.

Her reputation with friends and colleagues is that of a strong leader and a skilled teammate. She is always present, and she encourages coworkers to call on her for assistance, insight or simply reassurance. And for her residents, Loyd makes sure each receives the best possible care and companionship.

More about Loyd:

  • She is known for her “open cell phone” policy, meaning that she will answer any call, any time.
  • At age five, Loyd would visit a local long-term care facility in Tecumseh, OK, where she would entertain residents while her mother cut and styled their hair.
  • A proud Oklahoman, she received her administrator’s license from the University of Oklahoma.
