McKnight’s Long-Term Care News won pairs of Platinum and Gold Awards in the 2024 Hermes Creative Awards program.

Achieving top (Platinum) honors were Senior Editor Kimberly Marselas for Best Blog work in 2023, and the editorial and graphic arts staff for Best B2B Website (mcknights.com).

One of the Gold Awards was for Best Magazine Design, with Senior Art Director Monica Pizzi and Graphic Designer Aminah Beg earning the recognition.

The other was given for Best Print Magazine, which again honored the full staff. That included everyone named above, plus Staff Writer Josh Henreckson and Executive Editor James M. Berklan. It was the third Gold in the last six years for the title in that category, with Platinums filling the other three years.

Berklan also earned Honorable Mention for Best Single Blog.

Marselas’ blogs were among the best read pieces of the year, with her “A slap in the face for LPNs” among the most read of any item — straight news or column. Other blogs in her winning entry were “Where will patients go when nursing homes close? Consider this uncomfortable possibility” and “The staffing rule’s Swiss cheese factor.”

“[McKnight’s readers] are inspired and vastly more informed, thanks to [Marselas’] blogs. This is top-notch writing and analysis,” judges noted.

The 2024 haul raises McKnight’s Long-Term Care News’ all-time Hermes tally to 59.

MLTCN’s sister brands also did well, with McKnight’s Senior Living winning Platinum (for Best Website), Gold (Editor Lois Bowers for Best Single Blog) and Honorable Mention (Bowers, also for Best Single Blog).

McKnight’s Home Care, meanwhile, won Gold for Best Blog – Overall (Editor Liza Berger) and Honorable Mention for Best Podcast Series (Berger, Staff Writer Adam Healy and Special Products Coordinator Foster Stubbs).

Each year, the Hermes Creative Awards international competition honors the creative industry’s best publications, branding collateral, websites, videos, and advertising, marketing, and communication programs.
