NMI Health and Noble Biomaterials have introduced SilverCare Plus fabrics, which are meant to fight off healthcare-aquired infections.
NMI’s suite of fabrics from now includes X-STATIC® ‘s antimicrobial agents. This means scrubs, patient gowns, linens and cubicle curtains now have technology with layers of 99.9% metallic silver, which inhibits the growth of bacteria.
In addition to the protection, the silver layer lasts the life of the product and does not require a change in behavior, the company said. A recent survey found that scrubs are generally washed every other day, while white coat laundering may not be done for up to 90 days.
