We are in the final stretch, as today begins the last week of registration for the 12th Annual McKnight’s Online Expo.

The five-webinar, free online event will offer long-term care pros the opportunity to educate and arm themselves on all sorts of topics on March 14 and 15. Wound care evaluations and procedures will be of particular interest to the clinical and reimbursement crowd.

The second thought-provoking session of Day 1 will ask listeners: “Is the Braden Scale increasing your facility’s risk of malpractice?” This session starts at 1 p.m. ET on March 14 and explore whether the scale — the industry standard for predicting pressure ulcer risks — is causing more legal troubles than it’s solving for providers.

“Nursing home malpractice suits involving residents who have transferred to the facility with pressure ulcers or who have developed them during the course of their residency are increasing in frequency across the country,” says featured speaker Ilene Warner-Maron, Ph.D., RN-BC, CWCN, CALA, NHA, FCPP, who is a consultant and federal monitor with David Hoffman and Associates. “This program will focus on ways in which administrators and staff can manage the risk.”

“One of the most common myths in the nursing home industry is that nurses intuitively know how to complete the Braden Scale score,” she adds.

The free Expo has awarded several thousand CE credits to attendees annually for many years, all at no cost. Registration is ongoing. For full information on the agenda, speakers and exhibitors, click here or go directly to:  www.mcknights.com/expo2018.
