TCGRx has announced the availability of its new SmartCardRx system, which aims to simplify medication management.

The Powers Lake, WI-based pharmacy automation company claims that theirs is the first multi-medication, blister adherence system that makes use of a colored LED lighting, to guide the pharmacist where to place meds in each cell. SmartCardRX will make it much easier for long-term care pharmacies to keep track of patients who have multiple prescriptions, as it allows pharmacists to fill up to four patient cards at a time.

“The TCGRx team has brought the blister card system into the 21st century by applying technological advances to a system that, until now, has remained unchanged for decades,” Duane Chudy, TCGRx executive chairman, said in a company announcement. “SmartCardRx provides pharmacies with all the tools they need to fill scripts quickly, improving the speed, accuracy and efficiency of filling multi-med blister cards for enhanced patient safety and adherence.”

Each patient blister card is printed with unique information and a full index of his or her medications, according to the announcement.
