Covenant Living Communities and Services has promoted Cory Kallheim to the position of general counsel.

Kallheim replaces David Erickson, who vacated the role when he was named Covenant’s president and CEO in June.

Kallheim spent more than 17 years with the legal department at LeadingAge, culminating in the position of vice president of legal affairs for the national association from 2014-2022. He has been with Covenant Living for nearly two and a half years serving as vice president and as associate general counsel.

In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of Covenant Living’s operations, ensuring the organization remains compliant with all relevant laws and regulations, while also supporting strategic initiatives.

“Cory has a tremendous base knowledge of legal aspects within the field of senior living and has been invaluable for Covenant Living,” said David Erickson, Covenant Living president and CEO. “His experience for this new role will make for a seamless transition as we move forward.”

Kallheim earned his JD from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Based near Chicago, Covenant Living is one the nation’s top 10 non-profit senior living providers. It serves nearly 6,000 residents at 20 retirement communities in 11 states and offers skilled nursing, memory care, assisted living and independent living.
