The new “five-star” rating system for nursing homes will be a topic of discussion at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ “Open Door Forum” this Thursday.
Beginning Dec. 18, federal regulators will rate and rank nursing homes on the Nursing Home Compare Web site (www.medicare.gov/nhcompare). Ratings will be based on information from yearly surveys and certification results, staffing information, and other data. CMS officials will be on hand during Thursday’s forum to discuss other features and factors of the five-star system.
