In a nod to healthcare providers’ enormous administrative responsibilities, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services asked for comments on the information collection process.
Specifically, CMS requested comments regarding providers’ burden in complying with information collection requirements on several Medicare-related documents. These include applications for insurers to participate in the Part D drug program and Medicare Advantage program. The agency asked for comments on ways to improve the information collection process, the need for automated systems of collection and other issues. Long-term care administrators and directors of nursing frequently complain about the enormous amount of paperwork associated with the positions.
The deadline for comments is Nov. 13, according to an Oct. 12 notice by the agency in the Federal Register. Comments should be sent to the White House Office of Management and Budget, which oversees compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
