Wages rose by an average of 3.8% last year among U.S. workers who care for the elderly.
Clerical, support, professional and management jobs experienced the increase, according to a survey conducted by WageWatch, a Scottsdale, AZ-based online compensation and benefits survey company. The survey covered 1,900 nursing homes, continuing care centers, assisted living facilities, hospices and home care facilities.
Growth was more than 6% for managerial and professional workers. Jobs in these categories include heads overseeing nursing, dietary services and social services, and jobs such as charge nurse, physical therapist and dietician.
