The State of Arkansas has served Advocat with six lawsuits seeking fines and penalties of more than $45 million, the company said in a news release last week.
The suits allege Advocat committed violations of the Arkansas Abuse of Adults Act and the Arkansas Medicaid False Claims Act. The allegations involve fifteen patients in five nursing homes.
The state is suing for actual damages of $250,000.
Advocat said it intends to vigorously defend itself against the allegations.
