Aldersgate, originally known as The Methodist Home, is receiving a $70 million investment.

The money will go toward adding 62 new residences, amenities and programming, a new skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, and expanded memory care support.

Construction of memory-support suites and Town Center renovation began in June. Next will be a new skilled nursing facility and rehab center. The third stage of construction is expected to be completed in early 2018.

“I don’t think we’re overstating it to say that we’re changing the old ideas about retirement living — and especially skilled nursing care,” said CEO Suzanne Hodge Pugh. “We’re moving away from the old, regimented care routine — one that looks and feels institutional to one that’s personalized and tailored to respect the rhythm of each resident’s day. Aldersgate is going to feel more like home than ever before.”

In the skilled nursing center, there will be six households with 20 private suites.
