Permobil introduced a new, advanced wheelchair power assist system with a gesture-controlled smartwatch device that enables users to easily control a SmartDrive MX2+ motor via Bluetooth.
SmartDrive offers a range of controls, as well as activity technologies, to deliver a seamless power assist experience. It was designed to reduce the stress of repetitive actions and empower manual wheelchair users.
The Permobil-developed solution combines a lightweight power assist device with the rugged PushTracker E2 smartwatch and SwitchControl. The smartwatch provides hands-free, gesture-activated control and activity tracking.
In addition, Permobil is launching an all new control device for SmartDrive- the SwitchControl. With a user or caregiver’s push of a button, the SmartDrive can be engaged for a momentary burst of power. It also can be activated for consistent power over time.
The system significantly increases users’ ability to move long distances, tackle slopes and handle tasks that can be a challenge manual wheelchair users and lead to repetitive shoulder strain.
