The Congressional Budget Office has formed a new panel that will examine healthcare policy issues, CBO Director Peter Orszag said this week.
Experts, including Mark McClellan, the former administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Robert Reischauer, the former director of the CBO; and Karen Davis, president of the Commonwealth Fund, will comprise the panel. The first meeting is scheduled for May.
Topics of discussion for the panel include: the expansion of healthcare information technology and rising healthcare costs and their effect on the federal government.
