The town of Grandview, TX, and the Grandview Nursing Home will split a $4 million bequeathal from a Forth Worth, TX, woman.

Wynonia Pallmeyer was not from Grandview nor did she ever live there. But she became well acquainted with the town of 1,400 when her husband became a resident at the not-for-profit Grandview Nursing Home in the mid-1980s. After his death, she stayed connected with the home as a member of its board of directors.

Pallmeyer, who died in June 2005 at the age of 86, had an estate worth $14 million. She had no children or relatives and requested in her will that a committee of three of her friends decide how to distribute her wealth after her death. When she was alive, Pallmeyer purchased a whirlpool, ice cream machine and a van for the facility.
