Connecticut-based MediTelecare has added a Behavioral Health Integration service.

MediTelecare psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and psychologists provide behavioral health services to approximately 20,000 patients in more than 250 skilled nursing facilities across 14 states. Its goal is to help psychiatric residents, specifically with behavioral assessments and medication reduction when possible.

BHI provides  monitoring of the patient and external detailed communication with the other care providers, staff nurses and other caregivers, with a focus on reducing the risk of hospitalizations and poor outcomes, such as falls.

“BHI allows us to be proactive with patient care instead of reactive and can help avoid typical care failures in SNFs nationwide,” said Jessica Badichek, PharmD, Director of Clinical Informatics and the BHI project leader. “We believe we are uniquely positioned to provide this higher standard of care to our patients who are residents in skilled nursing facilities. Furthermore, we believe BHI will help our client SNFs improve their quality ratings.”
