Providers Monday will be under new regulation regarding the installation of alcohol-based rub dispensers and smoke alarms in nursing homes.
A published rule by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service will allow hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and other healthcare facilities to install alcohol-based hand rub dispensers in more places.
Also, certain nursing facilities will be allowed to install battery-operated single station smoke alarms in resident rooms and common areas. The rule applies to those facilities whose common areas are not fully sprinklered or equipped with system-based smoke detectors.
