Wealthier adults are thinking about the toll healthcare costs could take on their financial assets, a new study finds.

PNC Financial Services Group commissioned the survey. Almost 1,500 respondents participated, including workers with annual incomes of at least $150,000 and at least $500,000 in investable assets, such as real estate, stocks and bonds; and retirees with at least $1 million in assets.

A total of 43% of respondents aged 45 to 64 had concerns that healthcare costs will take up a significant percentage of their assets. One-fourth of respondents were worried about their parents’ lack of long-term care insurance, and 28% of respondents aged 18 to 44 expressed some concern their children will have to be their caregivers.
