Kindred Healthcare Inc. agreed to purchase four long-term care acute-care hospitals in Massachusetts from Health Care REIT Inc. for about $80 million.
It previously disclosed that it entered into a non-binding agreement with the real estate investment trust to purchase the real estate associated with these four units in connection with its acquisition of the assets of Commonwealth Communities Holdings LLC. Commonwealth operates the four hospitals.
Both the Health Care REIT and Commonwealth deals are expected to close in the first quarter of 2006.
