A Connecticut skilled-nursing facility is partnering with one vendor to help it get ahead of any potential issues that government surveyors might find.
Vernon Manor Care is doing so, specifically, by using a new web-based system, provided by Medline, which helps to gauge the nursing home’s readiness, the two organization’s announced in a press release. Dubbed as “abaqis,” the tech already has paid dividends, they say, with Vernon Manor only experiencing three standard survey deficiencies from CMS surveyors, compared to the state average of more than five.
“Nursing home quality is constantly evolving, so I’m always telling our team that we cannot do the same things we did five, 10 years ago,” Paul Liistro, owner of Vernon Manor Care, said in the press release. “We have to always look for new ideas and innovations that will help improve productivity.”
The partnership came about in response to the new “hybrid survey” of long-term care facilities from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Vernon Manor said it typically prepared through mock surveys, but wanted to find a better way to stay ahead of potential deficiencies found by CMS surveyors.
