Providers who tuned into The Today Show today may have seen a familiar topic. The morning program aired its first segment in a three-part series on nursing home care in America. At least one major association said it has not yet been contacted for inclusion in the series.

This segment was scheduled to include a live interview with Dr. Terry Watters, co-founder of the self-proclaimed advocacy group Member of the Family, according to the American Health Care Association.

It was also expected to include taped interviews regarding individuals who assert they or a loved one received poor care in nursing homes in Pennsylvania or Louisiana. A long-term care provider could be part of the second segment but not much more is known.

The AHCA said it contacted the show’s producers and has provided evidence of quality improvements in long-term care. It also said it will continue to pursue the opportunity to be included in the series and to appropriately respond.
