Attendees at a special webinar Thursday will learn from a former regulator how to devise creative care plans that comply with both current and proposed requirements from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The hour-long Pioneer Network event starts at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. Continuing education credit is available for nurses, also for a fee.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to list what is required (and what is not) regarding care planning; describe why a resident should determine goals for herself or himself; and identify highest practicable level of well-being for residents as required by regulation.

The session will be led by Carmen Bowman, a former regulator turned educator. A Colorado state surveyor for nine years and a former policy analyst with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Bowman also was a member of the panel that developed the new guidance to Tags 248 Activities and 249 Qualified Activity Director.
