A former licensed practical nurse has been charged with stealing medication from residents at the nursing home where she worked, and then replacing it with Tylenol, water and mouthwash.

Cindy L. Martin allegedly stole from a medication cart at Queen Anne’s Nursing Home in Hingham, MA. She was the only person with access, investigators said. In some instances stolen pills were replaced with Tylenol, and liquid medications were replaced with water or mouthwash, a police spokesman told the Bridgewater Independent.

Queen Anne’s Nursing Home did not respond to McKnight’s request for comment by press time.

Queen Anne’s fired Martin in June. She was arrested Saturday and charged with three counts of assault and battery on a person age 60 and over or disabled and causing injury. Martin also faces two counts of illegal possession of a Class B substance, in this case morphine and oxycodone; two counts of illegal possession of a Class C substance for vicodin; and one count of larceny of drugs.
