The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has a new mission providers need to be keenly aware of, a prominent long-term care payment expert cautions.
The agency “believes there are a lot of inaccurate databases and they haven’t been identified,” said Leah Klusch, executive director of the Alliance Training Center. That means surveyors are undertaking the “very new and very problematic” task of scrutinizing databases.
Innocent or not, that could mean big trouble for providers with inaccuracies, said Klusch, a featured speaker at a McKnight’s webinar on July 14.
She recommended a four-pronged focus for administrators wanting to make sure their data are in order: comprehensive, accurate, standardized and reproducible. She also gave a list of data collection tips, which can be heard on an archived version of the webinar at mcknights.com.
