» PointClickCare has acquired Meal Metrics, a web-based nutritional management solution. It now will be called the PointClickCare Tray Card. The product gives long-term care staff the ability to track resident nutritional care information. Additionally, it allows caregivers to view information such as allergies or special diets in an electronic format. 

» The Medline Foundation announced in November that it was donating $25,000 to the Illinois Tornado Relief Effort, through a partnership with the McCormick Foundation, WGN-AM radio, the Chicago Tribune and WGN-TV. The money will be used to assist victims of recent tornadoes in Washington, IL, and central Illinois. Medline’s Illinois-based employees raised an additional $1,800 independently.

» Southern Life Systems, which distributes Nurse Rosie Products, and Constant Care have announced a joint venture. The new company will be called RosieConnect LLC. Its flagship product, RosieConnect®, is designed for use in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and other care settings.

» PointRight Inc. announced it has released an upgraded version of its Professional Liability (PL) Snapshot. The tool can predict the risk of liability claims for long-term care providers. 

» McKesson Corporation announced its voluntary public takeover offer for the outstanding shares of Celesio on Dec. 5. The offer is being made through McKesson subsidiary Dragonfly GmbH & Co KGaA and for an offer price of $31.47 per share. Celesio is a German-based healthcare and pharmaceutical company with 39,000 employees, operating in 14 countries.

» COMS Interactive has expanded its partnership with consulting company Maun-Lemke, LLC. They will offer 20 revenue-focused workshop sessions in 2014, the company said. 

» Covidien will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Given Imaging for around $860 million, the company announced in December.
