The National Institutes of Health would be required to collaborate with the Department of Health and Human Services and other federal agencies on Alzheimer’s disease-related issues, according to a draft version of a new government plan.
The Department of Health and Human Services released its first draft plan Monday, detailing specific strategies for increasing access to clinical trials, improving early diagnosis rates and broadening public outreach efforts. The draft plan calls for the NIH to develop a framework for expediting therapeutic outcomes for those with or at risk of Alzheimer’s disease. It will accomplish this by working with other federal agencies such as the Administration on Aging, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration and others.
HHS will be collecting feedback on the draft recommendations — which can be read here and here — until Feb. 8.
