The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is focused on rooting out fraud, Administrator Donald Berwick said in a recent video interview with McKnight’s Editorial Director John O’Connor.
“Now, with the Affordable Care Act, we have ways to find it, to intercept it, to prosecute it when it occurs, and even more importantly, to prevent it by using analytic techniques and screening techniques to keep these bad actors out,” he said.
“We really want to work in partnership with the industry because we’re in this together,” he added. “It doesn’t help the vast majority of honest care providers when others are doing criminal and illegal things.”
