More than 140,000 people flocked to last week’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. There, they got a first-hand glimpse at some of the latest tech toys. But how do providers separate the contenders from the pretenders? Washington Post Technology Writer Rob Pegoraro believes that Google’s Android operating system, video calling and stores selling apps will remain robust in the year ahead. He also thinks we’ll see heightened efforts to unite smart phones with other devices. However, he’s less bullish about the prospects for former tech leader Microsoft. He cautioned that the technology behemoth is “looking less relevant by the day.”
