Apple’s new iPhone 4 was unveiled this week and goes on sale June 24. The new product offers features that are sure to appeal to many long-term care operators. These include an improved screen called “Retina,” which has four times as many pixels as the iPhone 3GS. The result will be crisper text, images and video. Its higher capacity battery promises up to seven hours of talk time. In addition, a second microphone should help suppress background noise while improving call quality. Then there are the apps that might prove extremely helpful. These include Epocrates (which lets users view continually updated clinical data, check for drug-drug interactions, identify prescriptions by physical characteristics and perform medical calculations), Medscape (a continually-updated drug reference tool) and Medical Encyclopedia (which offers medically reviewed information for nine different medical categories).
