The fourth annual Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services healthcare provider satisfaction survey is on its way, the agency announced Tuesday.

The Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey (MCPSS) is being sent to roughly 30,000 randomly selected Medicare providers around the country, including physicians and other healthcare practitioners, suppliers and institutional facilities that serve Medicare beneficiaries, according to CMS. This survey will measure performance targets for Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), who are contractors that provide services such as processing Medicare fee-for-service claims and fielding healthcare provider questions.

Survey results from years past have enabled CMS to set performance standards for the MACs, according to CMS acting administrator Kerry Weems. This year’s 20-minute survey will ask providers to rate MACs on a scale of 1 to 6. MACs must fall within a certain range in order to meet CMS’ standards. Those who have been selected for the survey will be notified this month. For more information on the MCPSS, visit: www.cms.hhs.gov/MCPSS.
