Applications for SAIVA’s new grant program supporting the adoption of machine learning are due Nov. 6.

The goal of the grants is to help long-term and post-acute care providers  reduce rehospitalizations.

SAIVA says applying artificial intelligence to inform clinical practice is relatively new to the post-acute care sector but promises to have a dramatic effect on patient outcomes. By linking data from a skilled nursing center’s EHR data and applying AI, acute episodes can be predicted and avoided — allowing for greater continuity of care and reduced hospitalization rates.

The grant opportunity is open to legally incorporated provider organizations, partnerships or private corporations organized on a for-profit or non-profit basis involved in long-term and post-acute care in the United States. Winners will receive support from SAIVA for a three-month project during which SAIVA will provide technology, consulting services, implementation and training.
