President Bush late last week signed a resolution extending the revisit user fee regulation to November.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services earlier this month released a rule establishing a revisit fee system for the fiscal year ending on Sunday. Congress passed and President Bush signed a Continuing Resolution that extends the rule until mid-November, according to the American Health Care Association. The fee allows the government to charge a fee when inspectors revisit nursing facilities following a survey.
Also over the weekend, the president signed into law a bill (H.R. 3668) that delays implementation of the Medicaid tamper-resistant prescription pad requirement by six months. Although nursing homes are exempt from this requirement, the delay will provide temporary relief for other types of facilities. The provision delays implementation until March 31, 2008.
